CardioSignal appoints former Beddit CEO and Apple Health Tech Manager Lasse Leppäkorpi as Operations Executive

Lasse Leppäkorpi, an entrepreneur, investor, and advisor with over 20 years of experience in health technology business development and biomedical engineering, has joined the CardioSignal team to boost the company’s international expansion.

Lasse Leppäkorpi, who previously managed Apple Health Technology’s software development in 2017–2021, was the CEO and co-founder of the health technology company Beddit. Beddit utilizes in-bed sensor-based technology to measure cardiorespiratory functions as well as movements for analyzing sleep quality. Beddit was acquired by Apple in 2017. Mr. Leppäkorpi was based in the San Francisco Bay Area before returning to Finland in 2021 and joining Maki.vc as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence. In October, he started as Operations Executive at CardioSignal.

“Having our team strengthened with Lasse’s experience comes at a perfect time as we are taking the next strategic steps towards expansion in remote care models in both Europe and United States. His knowhow and drive are energizing for the entire team, and I couldn’t be happier to have him on board,” says CEO, cardiologist Juuso Blomster.

“In the past seven years while living in the USA, I witnessed the severe disparity in healthcare. Underserved populations also have a higher prevalence of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. I am excited to join the CardioSignal team to tackle this issue by offering heart health assessment in an affordable and scalable way just using a smartphone, making it accessible for all and everywhere,” says Lasse Leppäkorpi

“The team’s commitment to privacy and basing products on comprehensive scientific and clinical validation has impressed me. I believe I can help CardioSignal untap great business and growth potential,” he adds.

Prior to his entrepreneurship, Mr. Leppäkorpi’s scientific background is in cardiovascular diagnostics technology, in which he worked as a research scientist at Aalto University in Finland. His research focused on ballistocardiography, the measurement and analysis of mechanical cardiac motion. Ballistocardiography is a close relative of CardioSignal’s novel gyrocardiographic method.
