  • Juuso Blomster

    CEO, Ph.D. MD Cardiologist

    Juuso Blomster (MD, PhD) is the CEO and co-founder. Dr. Blomster holds a specialist degree in cardiology and is an Adjunct Professor of Cardiology at the University of Turku, Finland. His extensive career includes several international positions in medicine and pharmaceutical industry. He was also Head Physician, Medical Assessments, and Chief Innovation Officer (Head Physician), Research Services, at Turku University Hospital.

  • Tero-Pekka Alastalo

    PRESIDENT & CMO, US OPERATIONS

    Tero-Pekka Alastalo, MD, PhD is the Chief Medical Officer and GM of US operations. He is a health care entrepreneur, investor, advisor, and board member. He has 10+ years of clinical and translational research experience and is an Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Helsinki. He specialized in Pediatric Cardiology and did his postdoctoral training at Stanford University. He was a co-founder of Blueprint Genetics, acquired by Quest Diagnostics in 2020.

  • Lasse Leppakorpi

    Lasse Leppäkorpi

    OPERATIONS EXECUTIVE

    Lasse Leppäkorpi is a founder, investor, and advisor with over 20 years of experience in health technology business development and biomedical engineering. He has worked as Entrepreneur in Residence for Maki.vc in 2022, managed Apple Health Technology’s software development in 2017–2021 and was the CEO and co-founder of the health technology company Beddit until 2017. Prior to his entrepreneurship, he researched ballistocardiography, the analysis of mechanical cardiac motion at Aalto University.

  • Leena Niemistö

    Chairwoman of the Board, Ph.D. MD Physiatrics

    Dr. Leena Niemistö is a health care professional with 30 years of clinical and leadership experience. She holds MD and PhD from Helsinki University and has specialised in physical and rehabilitation medicine. She holds also Dr. Admin. Sc. hc from Vaasa University. She worked as a CEO in a private healthcare company Dextra (yrs 2003-2016) and a deputy CEO in a social and healthcare company Pihlajalinna (yrs 2013-2016). Currently she is a board member in several publicly listed companies (Stockmann, Pihlajalinna, Raisio, Nexstim, Nightingale Health), startups, organisations and foundations. She is also an active investor in several health-tech growth companies.

  • Ursula Burns

    Member of the Board

    Ursula Burns served as Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Xerox Corporation and VEON, Ltd. Currently, Ms. Burns serves several public, private, and non-profit boards and counsels the United States government on key policies. She serves on the Board of Directors of Uber Technologies, Inc., Endeavor Group Holdings, Inc., ExxonMobil Corporation, and IHS Holdings. She is also a member of the Mayo Clinic and the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Board of Trustees. Ms. Burns was also appointed by President Obama to lead the White House national program on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

    David is the Managing Director of DigiTx Partners, an investment firm focused on early-stage digital health investments. He began his venture career over two decades ago at MPM Capital and has made investments in both medtech and life sciences. Over the past decade, David has turned his focus on digital health and currently serves as a board member of Embr Labs, G-Tech Medical, NeoSensory, Mightier, Rune Labs, and WellDoc and as a board observer at Figure8 and Cleerly.

    David is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (MD) and Stanford Graduate School of Business (MBA)

  • Ilkka Kivimäki

    Member of the Board

    Ilkka Kivimäki is a Co-founder and Partner at Maki.vc, a seed-stage fund partnering with deep tech & brand-driven companies. He’s a serial entrepreneur-turned-investor with over 20 years of experience from both sides of the table. Prior to Maki.vc, Ilkka has worked as CEO and Co-Founder of Wicom Communications, which was sold to SAP where he later served as Senior VP.

    Ilkka is a seasoned investor: he was the first investor and former chairman of Wolt, sat on the board of Beddit before it was acquired by Apple, and was the first investor and chairman of AImotive. He’s also passionate about developing the Nordic startup ecosystem – he’s chaired Slush and Startup Sauna, served on the boards of student-led VC Wave Ventures and Europe’s biggest hackathon Junction.

  • Petri Niemisvirta

    Member of the Board, LL.M.

    Mr. Petri Niemisvirta is an expert in the finance and insurance sector, with nearly 30 years of experience. He is the group CEO of Mandatum. Mr. Niemisvirta has led Mandatum since 2001. Currently he is the Chairman of the Board at Kaleva Mutual Insurance Company, and a board member in several other companies, organisations and foundations. Mr. Niemisvirta has previously been the Chairman of the Board at Alma Media, Confederation of Finnish Industries EK (Finance and Tax Commission) and Finance Finland (Life Insurance Executive Committee).

  • Risto Lähdesmäki

    An angel investor and advisor to over 60 VC-funded startups and LP in 10+ funds. Lähdesmäki has over 20 years of experience in UX and product design. He was the co-founder and CEO of Idean Inc., having led the company from 0 to 800+ talents in 20+ cities before selling the firm to Capgemini in 2017. Based in San Francisco Bay area.
